Ensuring every child can access learning, while also being stretched, is one of the greatest challenges we face in the classroom.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"1063\">At <a href=\"https:\/\/progressteaching.com\/about-us\/\">ProgressTeaching<\/a>, several schools across our network have been working to improve the adaptive teaching element of their teaching rubrics. The aim? To ensure every leader and teacher has a shared understanding of what great practice looks like in this vital area.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1065\" data-end=\"1162\">Below are two examples that schools are using to structure <a href=\"https:\/\/progressteaching.com\/feedback\/\">feedback<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/progressteaching.com\/action-steps\/\">professional development<\/a>:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ea80732 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"ea80732\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8521d39 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8521d39\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1169\" data-end=\"1220\"><strong data-start=\"1173\" data-end=\"1220\">Example 1 \u2013 Habit name: \u2018Adaptive teaching\u2019<\/strong><\/h3><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0Is <a href=\"https:\/\/progressteaching.com\/dashboards\/\">data<\/a> used to plan so that all pupils can access the learning?<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0Is there evidence of scaffolding challenging tasks?<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0Is open questioning used to challenge and gauge pupils\u2019 understanding?<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0Are tasks planned that stretch and are aspirational for all pupils?<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0Are explanations broken down so that all pupils can access the learning?<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0The teacher has high expectations for all pupils and a detailed knowledge of their needs and abilities, and therefore uses appropriate strategies such as speaking and writing frames or chunking tasks.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2330\" data-end=\"2553\"><strong data-start=\"2333\" data-end=\"2340\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>SAM<\/strong> is consistently applied during the lesson and therefore pupils with SEND remain engaged throughout the lesson. Clarity of instruction and economy of language leads to pupils knowing what to do and how to do it.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2556\" data-end=\"2711\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0A variety of activities is consistently used to challenge pupils and they complete challenges which stretch their skills, knowledge and understanding.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2714\" data-end=\"2908\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0Teachers consistently use identified strategies and prepare resources (with a TA where possible) for SEND pupils so that they can access learning and make progress in line with their peers.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2911\" data-end=\"3015\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/svg\/1f539.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" \/>\u00a0There is an excellent TA\/teacher partnership which leads to effective additional support with pupils.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
